  • Construction Project Engineer

  • Overview

    The Construction Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for managing, administrating, and coordinating the construction process of StoryPoint Senior Living Communities, which will include multiple projects in various locations.  The PE will be the single source of responsibility for ensuring the following adhere to program:  Floor Plans during each phase of development, Drawings, RFIs, Bulletins, Submittals and ensure all are reflected in the StoryPoint program model.  The PE will be required to interrelate with all internal company personnel including internal and external partners.


    Required Experience for a Project Engineer:

    • 1-3 years of Construction Administration or Management, Architecture, Engineering or other related experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Architecture preferred
    • Experience managing development projects from the ground up, preferably a mix of licensed and unlicensed senior retirement communities of over 125 units
    • Understanding of basic construction methods and materials
    • High-level communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with various departments
    • Ability to work through unexpected issues and overcome construction obstacles
    • Experience in utilizing/tracking/executing the project via a construction project management and other software such as Microsoft Project, Procore, Excel, and SmartSheet. Yardi experience is a plus
    • Prior experience using scheduling software to create a project schedule
    • Ability to travel up to 50%

    Primary Responsibilities of a Project Engineer:

    • Assist in delivering new StoryPoint communities on time, on budget, and quality by meeting all assigned deadlines per program
    • Collaborate with Program Team onsite, including program compliance, Trailer, Model(s), Landscaping readiness for furniture install
    • Construction schedule for completion and occupancy
    • Interface with Contractor & Architect to ensure on time and budget
    • Lead submittal process for Program Management
    • Monitor RFIs, change order, and bulletins
    • Site visits to assess and execute milestones to ensure quality, experience, and turnover
    • Building readiness for furniture, FF&E, & IT management installations for development team to finalize and implement
    • Operating / maintenance instruction manuals & warranties
    • Facilitate Playbook Meetings with internal company teams
    • Administrate Closeout Documentation: As-Builts, Documents, Records, Owners Training, Warranty Process, On Site Turn Over Meetings with Operations
    • Execute Capital Asset projects for StoryPoint, Independence Villages and future acquisitions
    • Facilitate onsite transition / meeting with operations at resident move-in 60 days out
    • Audit Program Model against final project completed
    • Construction document review and specification cross reference - investigate to ensure adherence to program
