    Assistant Director (Leadership Development Program)

    Independence Village / StoryPoint

     

    Position Summary:

    This multi-year training and development program prepares existing employees for leadership roles at Independence Village and StoryPoint communities. It begins with a comprehensive training program of the Executive Director (ED) role with managerial training in elevating expectations, leadership authenticity, navigating conflict and embracing ownership. Development continues in the areas of team leadership and problem solving skills.  Successful candidates will gain a strong understanding of the service expectations of each role through classroom study and job shadowing.  Training continues with intense Executive Director-specific skills through shadowing and role playing.  Progression in the program includes providing ED coverage during leaves of absences, vacations etc.  During the first two of four phases, the current role of the candidate remains the top priority. Eventually this role leads to a permanent assignment as an Executive Director in one of our communities.

    Primary Responsibilities for Assistant Director (Leadership Development Program):

    • Will work directly with our Executive Director team learning numerous valuable aspects of our organization.
    • Develop clear understanding of Independence Village and StoryPoint brands.
    • Become fully aware of the needs of seniors and the needs of their families.
    • Ability to maintain high standards across the property and its employees
    • Speaks intelligently and professionally.
    • Demonstrates appropriate urgency.
    • Successfully develops connections with residents.
    • Continuous commitment to personal development.

     

    General Working Conditions:

    This position may entail sitting or standing for long periods of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens.  The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
