Position Summary:

As a Technician, you will be responsible for performing physical, general labor duties and construction projects at various sites. This position requires the ability to work different shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours outdoors in different weather conditions. Teamwork with the ability to work within internal partners in Common Sail departments and with other external partners is necessary to be successful.

 

Required Experience for Laborer:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or some college credits from a technical school; or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to complete specific projects including general knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, drywall, painting, and cleaning.
  • Ability to follow project instructions from supervisor and read/interpret documents by consulting construction plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Primary Responsibilities for Technician:

  • Completes all assigned daily tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Tasks include:
    • Painting, dry wall, light plumbing, and general maintenance
    • No climbing over a 6-foot ladder or scaffolding.
    • No underground work or high voltage work.
  • Safely operates various types of tools and equipment. Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly.
  • Maintain work areas, equipment and vehicles. Identifies and reports broken equipment or uncertain conditions to the Construction Supervisor.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required.
  • Maintains a positive customer service attitude in interactions with staff and property residents.
  • Projects require professional attire and attitude. All employees wear standard PPE (all regulated and proper headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing) are worn.

 

General Working Conditions:

This position entails standing for long periods of time.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects.  The employee is required to reach with hands and arms.  This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens.  The employee will lift and/or move up to and over 40 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be similar to a construction zone.  Travel to different locations is required.
